Used as a high-boiling organic solvent. Low viscosity, temperature has little effect on viscosity, used as a solvent for cellulose ester paints, printing inks, synthetic resin coatings, and paint removers. It can also be used as a solvent for pesticides, fungicides, wood preservatives, and colorants, an extractant for oils and aromatic hydrocarbons, in the manufacturing of photographic film, artificial silk, artificial leather, as an antifreeze, and as a component in brake fluid formulations.
